What is the performance of Chinese enterprises overseas exhibitors in the second quarter?


           Participating in foreign trade exhibition is one of the important ways for foreign trade enterprises to show their strength, expand markets, find orders, promote exchanges and learn more, and also is a barometer of foreign trade development. In the first half of this year, our foreign trade enterprises actively participated in the exhibition, government departments and trade promotion agencies also took the initiative to play a role in providing group, VISA, charter flights, outreach and other services to help enterprises successfully participate in the exhibition, this lays a good foundation for the stable development of foreign trade. In the second quarter of this year, China trade think tank conducted a data sampling analysis of Chinese enterprises to participate in the exhibition, with a view to providing reference for enterprises, government departments, trade promotion agencies to better participate and organize outreach.

           In the first half of this year, despite geopolitical turmoil and the tortuouw700d1q75cmss path of world economic recovery, according to data from global exhibition venues, more than 200,000 Chinese enterprises have participated in overseas exhibitions, a total of 27,726 enterprises were sampled by China trade think tank. Specific to the second quarter (Q2) , a valid sample of 17,698, involving 44 large industries and 687 small industries, including 61 countries and regions of 329 exhibition projects. The report ranked the number of exhibitors in China, listing the top 10 countries or regions of the number of Chinese enterprises participating in exhibitions, as well as the top 10 provinces, cities and industry categories of exhibitors.

           The report reviews the key countries and industries in which different cities participate in foreign exhibitions. China trade think tank project team selected the number of Chinese enterprises to participate in the Top10 cities as a sample, a brief analysis. The top 10 cities were Shenzhen (608) , Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (516) , Shanghai (381) , Ningbo (373) , Hangzhou (257) , Xiamen (246) , Guangzhou (234) , Suzhou (216) , Beijing (211) and Wenzhou (210) . Overall, these cities accounted for 18.37% of the total number of sample exhibitors.

           The regional comprehensive economic partnership (RCEP) came into force for the Philippines on June 2 this year, it marks the full entry into force of the RCEP for 10 ASEAN countries and a total of 15 signatories including Australia, China, Japan, South Korea and New Zealand. The economies of all RCEP signatories have benefited since its entry into force in 2022, and the full entry into force of the RCEP this time will further enhance the confidence of the signatories to implement the agreement and make inter-regional economic and trade exchanges closer. For Chinese Enterprises, using RCEP rules is not only to make good use of rules of origin to enjoy tariff preferences, but also to further optimize the industrial chain, supply chain layout in RCEP and make good use of regional integration of the big market. Therefore, the RCEP area also becomes the area that Chinese enterprises must pay attention to when they go abroad to participate in the exhibition.

           At present, the global economic recovery is slow, geopolitical turmoil, high inflation, Russia-ukraine conflict and other factors still have an impact on the development of our foreign trade, in particular, the lack of external demand for enterprises through overseas participation to expand orders posed a challenge. In such a context, enterprises should further improve internal strength, improve the competitiveness of products and services at the same time, we also need to further refine the objectives of exhibitors, build distinctive booth, innovative exhibition content and other ways to show their own strength, so as to improve the efficiency of exhibitors. For government departments and trade promotion agencies, while providing regular services for exhibitors, they should also make great efforts in guiding enterprises to share their exhibitors’ experiences, encouraging Chinese enterprises to hold their own exhibitions abroad, and strengthening risk prevention and control, escort Enterprises to participate in overseas exhibitions.
